windows 8 - Boot Loader Issues

I have a Gateway NE series laptop originally running Windows 8. I've had it since November and each time I turn it on a black screen with a blue box appears that says, "Windows Boot Manager, Boot failed.", the next screen says, "No Bootable Device. Hit any key." After hitting a key a grey screen appears that says: Boot option menu 1. Windows Boot Manager (Hitachi HTS543232A7A384) After choosing that option it brings me back to the first screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Windows 7 Boot Loader -- modify boot options while booting?

While booting with the Windows 7 Boot Manager, I have, by accident, triggered a screen which allows me to edit the boot command line, before the OS boots (similar to how GRUB allows you to press E and then modify the parameters on the fly).

I don't remember the key combination for this, though... or whether or not I needed to change any particular setting.

Does anyone know how to bring up this screen while booting?

Ah... it's the F10 key, and it only works for certain (Windows?) boot options.
