images - How to open/view a picture fullscreen FAST in Firefox?

With FireFox (on Windows OS), I do a lot of browsing on pages with pictures. These images are standard img HTML tags (no fancy scripting like flickr and friends). I often want to open them in "full view" without the surrounding page, preferably in the same tab.

I do this by right-click, then "View Image". This is tedious, I would rather like to double-click the image.

Is there a setting or Add-On that can open an image with double-click only? Alternatively: Is there another browser that can do that?

I found very annoying that when opening Firefox (3.5) all extension popup for update. Is there a way to have not this popup right from the start. When I start a browser is often because I have task to do right now with it... It would be better if it would not act like a nag screen. Is there a way to customize this update screen?

    Edit:

I do not want to take it off completely but to not block the start of the browser loading.
