I build my Gaming PC for around 1000$. Quad core, 8 gb ram. And its not very fast/ responsive. My 6 years old dell is more responsive than it. For instance: openning the software Google Chrome takes around 5 seconds. Which is weird for a new pc. I have no idea what could be the problem and this is bugging me alot. Help please

    CPU i5 Quad core
    MB : MSI z87-G43
    GPU GeForce 770
    RAM: 8GB DDR3
I have an old HDD: 1.5 Tb WD15EARs-00S8B1
    OS: windows 8

Check you're task manager and resource monitor and make sure that no bloatware is hogging your resources. Then verify your event logs to ensure nothing is hanging due to errors. Finally check your device manager and ensure and devices are reported to be functioning normally. If all the above come out A-OK, upgrade that hard drive.

Pro Tip: Really wanna see a boost in performance, Invest into a solid state drive

performance - New MacBook Pro, sluggish and overheating?
  • thatryan

I just bought the new MacBook Pro, 2.3GHz quad-core i7, 8GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM, 512Gb Solid State Drive. It runs freaking awesome...for a while. Then it seems to get very, very sluggish. Scrolling in a finder window for example becomes jaggy, expose takes a minute to show windows, new windows take forever to appear, just acts like a very old computer. Also I installed smcFanControl to check the temp and I am not sure what is "hot" for this, but sticking around and above 150 degrees Fahrenheit.. is that normal?

When things get sluggish, a restart fixes it right away, and is is zippy as hell for a while again. Ran the hardware diagnostic, it found nothing. Any thoughts? Thank you!

There was a reported problem with ATI graphics cards, I think it was something to do with the switch over from dedicated to on board graphics depending on load. Apple have since released a fix for this problem. It sounds like it's exactly the trouble you're having. Run a system update to see if there are any available updates. Hope this helps!
