windows 7 - Screen Resolution issue in Linux Mint 2
2014-07
I have a desktop machine, having AMD Atholon CPU, Nvidia Motherboard and Samsung 19' Monitor. I have installed for Windows 7 & Linux Mint 12 in dual boot. Monitor do not have any screen adjustment buttons.
Since some months screen is booted in 1024x768 Mode. When I check display settings It found that only two display 1024x768 & 800x600 is available. Also initially My screen is adjusted to left, So on right side of screen a wide black strip clearly seen.
Also application border are cropped from left. I need to manually drag them to adjust on screen.
Also sometimes if monitor goes into sleep mode due to inactivity (Let for 20-30 minutes), Then after entering password, Screen goes back to normal mode (Full resolution mode).
While both Linux mint & Windows have right side strip problem, But I see some differences.
- On windows sometimes screen booted correctly.
- Application are not left aligned any time in windows,
- Resolution on Windows are higher than linux even in problem mode.
If this complete hardware problem, Or Linux mint have issue with specified hardware.
UPDATE 1 : I am using Cinnamon Desktop Environment on Linux Mint.
As you'll have gathered from the title of my post I have a HP Mini 110 on which I have recently installed Linux Mint 9.
The native resolution of the netbook is 1024 X 600 and when I connect my external monitor to the netbook I am unable to increase the resolution beyond this to take advantage of the higher res available - the external monitor is capable of 1440 X 900.
All of the netbook's function keys are working except the one for switching between the internal and external display.
In mint's menu there is a "Monitors" section where I have also tried to change settings, again without success.
Any help and advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Edit \ Update 18-8-2010 - xrandr output as requested. Thanks for the reply, whitequark. Hopefully this will give you some clue as to how I might rectify the situation. I've had some dealings with xorg.conf before, but don't really know my way around it.
