Skype for Modern Windows Stuck at Splash Screen

When I open Skype for Modern Windows, I see the splash screen, but seconds later it minimizes to Start. If I try to go back to Skype, it just minimizes to Start again after a few seconds. What's the problem?

Some additional information:

• I log in to Windows using my Microsoft account.
• I don't use my Microsoft account to log in to Skype.

I was able to find two errors using eventvwr.
