browser addons - Updating Google Chrome Extensions
2014-05
Do extensions on Google Chrome update automatically? I am looking all over the place for some sort of a "check for updates" button on all of my extensions but am not finding it.
Chrome extensions do auto-update. If you want to force-check for updates, look at ChrisF's answer.
To force an update go to chrome://extensions/
(Tools > Extensions) then click on "Developer Mode"
An Update Extensions Now button appears.
Click it.
On Firefox, I use the extension Firegestures.
A while ago, I tested a few ones for Google Chrome, but they were all very buggy, poor in term of features or Windows-only (I'm on GNU/Linux). Now there seems to be a lot of extensions for this.
Which one is the closest to Firefox's Firegestures ?
I tried tons of extensions, like:
- Chrome Mouse Gesture
- Chrome Rocker Gestures
- nkGestures
- Gestures For Chrome(TM)
and none of that worked correctly (mostly because of colliding with the right click context menu)
Now I'm using: Recognize It for Chrome
which disables the right click entirely. This annoys much, but I have mouse gestures finally!
I have just installed this extension and it looks promising:
It's still not what Firegestures offers and the gestures are performed with a middle mouse button (on Linux/MacOS) but at least it seems to be working.
Answering myself... Smooth gestures
Well, on linux, Smooth Gestures is the only way to make Chrome to react to Mouse Gesture. But there is a problem: You must click twice if you want to show "Context menu" on pages. They solved this issue with a trick on Smooth Gestures options. In "Context menu options" we can choose "Force Context menu on links", and right mouse button will work with one click, not two.
See you
Pig Toolbox works fine.
Right menu is shown on double click.
New version support customizable gestures, defined by direction. Old version have only alphabet gestures.
