I've looked on Asus's website, but they don't make it easy to understand what the differences are, and there's so many models to choose from! It's all spiel, and endless specs. How is anybody supposed to rifle through so much detail in order to make note of minor differences?

If anyone already has this knowledge, I'd love to know what the major differences between these Z77 models are:

    1. P8Z77-V
    2. P8Z77-V DELUXE
    3. P8Z77-V LE
    4. P8Z77-V LE PLUS
    5. P8Z77-V LK
    6. P8Z77-V LX
    7. P8Z77-V PREMIUM
    8. P8Z77-V PRO
    9. P8Z77-V PRO/THUNDERBOLT

Asus are famous for offering lots of solutions, but if there's no easy way to see the differences, how can you even consider what to buy? Their website does include a Comparison tool, but it's broken:

    enter image description here

I'm primarily interested in 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6, if that makes the task any easier.

I'm sure there are people who have this knowledge.

    Thanks for any help.

A comparison of the ASUS P877 - V, -V LE, -V LE PLUS, -V LK and -V LX (your 1,3,4,5 and 6) as described by seller. The other obvious difference by type is price.

Well, I've managed to found out some answers, after digging around more.

The difference between the P8Z77-V LE and P8Z77-V LE PLUS is that the PLUS version supports 3-Way Crossfire/SLI. Otherwise they're identical. This is reflected in their Expansion Slots:

    P8Z77-V LE (and V LX)
    1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16
    1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode)
    2 x PCIe 2.0 x1
    3 x PCI

P8Z77-V LE PLUS (and V and V LK)
    2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8)
    1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode)
    2 x PCIe 2.0 x1
    2 x PCI

The V LX doesn't have a HDMI output for its onboard GFX, whereas the V, V LE, V LE PLUS and V LK do.

How do I update the BIOS on my motherboard. Asus P8Z77-V LX
  • neilh

I recently built this new PC but I notice most games are not running as well as I had hopped, Tribes, Skyrim, Saints Row the Third and Serious Sam 3 for example. Some have really bad FPS like 60-30, dipping frequently.

I notice my Motherboard has a lot of updates, I'm hoping this will help.

    CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz | GPU: Radeon HD 6950 | Mobo: Asus P8Z77-V LX | RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz

Go to Asus official website and download the latest bios. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z77V_LX/

Inside the file you will find the instructions on how to rename the file included. After renaming it you open up Asus Updater to flash the new Bios.

If you dont have Asus update you can get it here: http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&m=tools

Press F2 on boot to enter the BIOS. There should be a tab that says Advanced. From there select something like: Start Easy Flash. You should then be prompted to select the new bios file. After you select a file it will update your bios to the new version.

I have an ASUS motherboard myself.

I would recommend this method over using the Windows utility method because I have heard that it is safer and helps reduce the chance of something going wrong and bricking your mobo

I'd be surprised if updating the BIOS will improve your gaming performance, however to actually answer your question:

You can download the manual for this motherboard here:

    http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1155/P8Z77-V/E7074_P8Z77-V.pdf

Section 3.10 deals explicitly with the differing ways in which to update the BIOS.

Section 3.10.1 mentions an Asus Update utility that will allow you to update the BIOS from within Windows and it seems fairly straightforward if it's your first time.

The manual advises that the utility comes on the DVD that came with your motherboard, however you can also download the utility (and the BIOS update itself) from here:
